Easy as ABC

Here is a fun book report that will help build vocabulary skills. Give each student 28 3x5 index cards. Punch two holes in the top of each card. Tell students that they are going to be making alphabet booklets based on the books they'll read. Have each student write a letter of the alphabet on each of 26 of the cards. The remaining two cards will serve as front and back covers.

As a student reads his book, have him look for a new vocabulary word for each of the letters of the alphabet. When he finds a word, he will write it on the appropriate card. (You may wish to allow them to skip letters such as q, x, y, z) Have the student finish his ABC booklet by tying a decorated front cover, the cards, and a back cover together with yarn.
