Journal Jumpers

I got this idea out of mailbox bulletin boards. I've used it and it works great to get the ideas flowing. The title of your bulletin board is " Journal Jumpers" each student gets a sentence strip to decorate into a giant pencil or pen. Then students are to write their topic on the strip. When someone is stumped for a writing idea all they have to do is get one from the board. I usually have one or two up to give students an example. This works great as a first week of school filler.
