Paintings and Poetry

Using large prints from our art adoption, I show students famous pieces of artwork on Monday. We discuss the artist, techniques, possible reasons for the subject, etc. I then give the students until Friday to find a poem that they think fits the picture. On Friday, each student reads his/her poem to the class and we post them around the picture. As the year goes by, some students will enjoy writing their own poem for the picture. For a change I might give the students a poem and they must find a picture to go with it. Great fun.
