Poetry Centers
I just had a brainstorm about a center idea. I went to buy some supplies and I came across "Magnetic Poetry". I purchased the magnetic plate, but, I went straight home to make the rest. (Nothing like saving money making it yourself!) I went to "Office Max" and purchased business card magnets. I cut them into strips. On the computer I made up words, sentences, etc. The cards have a sticky side, so the paper sticks right on. My students are going to classify words into categories, verbs, nouns, etc. They can use the variety of words to come up with poems. They can use the words to practice types of sentences. The list goes on and on. I just have to look at them on the magnetic board, and they have the joy of doing something other than a worksheet!
