Read Aloud Fun

While I am reading aloud I let the kids use modeling clay to make something pertaining to what I am reading. Sometimes I ask for a character or a setting or let them use their own imagination. When I am finished reading aloud I give them a minute to finish up their creation and ask them to label what they have created. Them we all get up and walk around the room in a counter clockwise fashion and look at everyone's sculpture.
I get the modeling clay at the 99 cents store and have them keep it in film canisters.
