Using Reading Buddies to support Poetry writing

We have a buddy class of second graders that we meet with once a week. My older students love to teach the younger kids new skills. After a lesson on writing Haiku or another type of poetry as well as some practice, my fifth graders will present their poems to the little ones and explain how they wrote the poems. Then each partnership will write their own poems together.
