Teacher begins sentence i.e. Jamie xxxx beautifully. Have a child act out a verb. Class guesses verb.  Another child writes sentence on board and underlines verb.  Repeat several times until class understand that a verb is doing and is usually placed after the subject.  This lesson can be used for adverbs too.  Being verbs is more difficult for the kids to understand.

There is a story posted on the internet about Vera and Verbiswawmi that addresses the being verbs.  Hope this helps.
