Poetry Centers 2

After teaching poetry several times, I have learned that it is very difficult for students to keep track of all the different types of poems they can write. To help solve this problem, along with promoting independence, I have developed a poetry center. Within this center, students can find extra copies of the handouts I provide. (These handouts are usually practice and explanation sheets from teacher resource books.)
I also made simple cards for each type of poem with that poem's "rules" on it. (I make several copies of each type.) To help keep it simple, I mount each type of poem on a different color of construction paper. In the center I also include: poetry books, examples of other student's work, and fun publishing material.
