Teaching dialogue with Comic strips
Submitted by: Tami Knight
Cut out several comic strips from the Sunday paper. Cut out all the Speech bubbles. Mount the comic strips on construction paper, number each Speech bubble, and laminate each one. When teaching dialogue, let students work in pairs to write new "dialogue" for the comic strips.
They number their Papers with the numbers in the blank speech bubbles, then write their own dialogue, correctly punctuated, of course!
It's amazing what they come up with--it's often better than the original comic strip. Always give them a chance to share in front of the class.
